Manila, Philippines – Pilipinas Climbing Inc., the national governing body for sport climbing in the country, proudly announces the successful conclusion of the 2025 National Climbing Competitions, held across two major venues in Luzon. The competition determined the line-up of the 2025 National Team for Bouldering, Lead and Speed, as well as the official selection event for athletes who will represent the Philippines at the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, set to take place in Thailand this December.

Significantly, the 2025 SEA Games marks the return of sport climbing to the regional competition for the first time since 2011—making this year’s Nationals a milestone event for Filipino climbers and the sport’s growth in the country.

This year’s Nationals unfolded over two weekends, starting with the Bouldering Event on June 14–15 at the newly-opened Flowstate Bouldering Gym, where athletes battled through powerful and technical problems. Earning the top spots for the Men’s Bouldering Category are John Joseph Veloria from Manila, Iman Mora from Cagayan de Oro and Paul Suson from Cebu, while the Women Bouldering Winners are Praj Dela Cruz, Lissa Vidal from Cebu, and Yca Dizon from Manila.

The second leg took place on June 20–21 at Climb Central Manila, featuring the Lead and Speed disciplines. Lead climbing challenged participants to navigate longer, endurance-driven routes, while the Speed event delivered exciting action with head-to-head races on a 12 meter wall. The roster of winners for the Men’s Lead Event are Iman Mora, John Joseph Veloria and Jannuel Dizon, and the Women’s Lead podium-finishers are Lissa Vidal, Joanne Ala and Yca Dizon. The Speed Event concluded with Migo Azupardo, Johnny Forones and Kevin Pascua for the Men, and Yca Dizon, Gianna Quintela and Kaizen dela Serna for the Women.

The 2025 Nationals was also the first major competition held under the new leadership of Atty. Al Agra, President of the Philippine Obstacle Sports Federation (POSF), who now heads Pilipinas Climbing Inc.

Top-performing athletes from the competition now make up the country’s National Adult Team, Youth Team and Developmental Pool, with additional prospects for participation in IFSC World Cup and Asian-level competitions.

Pilipinas Climbing extends its deep appreciation to all the athletes, coaches, route setters, judges, volunteers, and partner gyms for making the 2025 Nationals a vibrant and successful showcase of the country’s growing climbing talent.
